I ordered the rectangular one for my dining room and the jute feels surprisingly soft underfoot, not scratchy like I feared. The weave is tight and it lies completely flat right out of the box.
The tasseled edge on this runner gives my hallway such a warm, finished look, and it hasn't shed at all after a month of daily foot traffic. I was worried jute would feel scratchy, but it's actually soft enough to walk on barefoot.
The round version looks perfect under my breakfast nook table and the tassels give it just enough texture without being fussy. Jute can feel scratchy but this one softened up within a week, and it hasn't shed at all.
